Novice Team Policy Debate
( 5 day camp - $55/ student)
Novice Team Policy is an introductory debate camp. During this week of class, we will teach: basic debate theory, argumentation, communication and research skills and apply what has been learned in practice debate rounds. We will have 1 - 2 hours of assigned homework Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. This class is intended to give each student an understanding of the argumentation that will help them grow as an effective communicator and prepare them for a season of competitive debate. At the end of the week, participants will have completed an affirmative case and will have a combined negative brief. The 2015/2016 NCFCA Team Policy resolution will be used in camp.
(Min. class size: 12/ Maximum: 40)
Advanced Team Policy
( 5 day camp - $30/ student)
The advanced track of "That's Debatable!"
In this class, we delve deeper into theory and introduce some proven tactics to help get your message across with the highest impact. Content will include more drills/research/workshops as opposed to lectures. The only prerequisite for this track is one year of competitive debate experience. Students should come to camp with a developed 1AC using the NCFCA Team Policy for 2015/2016 (at least the plan should be written out) and a general working knowledge of the resolution. Assigned homework will be minimal, however, it is STRONGLY recommended that each student spend 1 - 2 hour each night doing independent research on various topics and further developing their case (using the new skills learned in class). Debate rounds will be held on Thursday and Friday when we will put into practice all of the new skills gained this week.
